Brian Turner
Assistant Coach

Brian Turner is coming into his seventh year as an assistant coach for Southeastern. During his time here, he has worked together with the staff to recruit numerous players that have gone on from here to be successful at the next level. He has also helped to develop several players into All-Region and All-American status by the time they graduated.

Born and raised in Burlington, Turner graduated in 1997 from Burlington High School. He played basketball at Iowa Western Community College from 1997-1999 and then went on to play NCAA Division I basketball at Western Illinois University from 1999-2001. While completing his degree in Business Management, he was hired by then Coach Jim Kerwin to be a Student Assistant Coach at WIU for the 2001-2002 season. Following this, he attended Graduate School at WIU where he received a Master’s of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing in 2004.

Turner is also related to three great Blackhawk players. His father Mack and mother Lora met while Mack was on his way to making the list as one of the Top Career Individual Scoring Leaders. Mack is now the color commentator for the Blackhawk Basketball radio broadcasts. Two uncles are in the top ten on the Career Individual Scoring Leaders list, Larry Woods, and First Team All-American and Southeastern Hall of Fame inductee Sam Williams. All three played for Region XI Championship teams and now Brian has joined them as he has now helped coach the Blackhawks to two Region XI Championships.
